The Central District of Karaj County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان کرج) is in Alborz province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Karaj.[3]
At the 2006 census, its population was 1,667,024, in 460,242 households, when the county was in Tehran province.[4] The latest census in 2016 counted 1,956,267 people in 617,773 households,[2] by which time the county had separated from the province and become a part of recently established Alborz province.[3] The city of Meshkin Dasht had been separated from the county to join the newly established Fardis County.[5]
