Cam McHarg is an American actor and film director.[1][2]
Early life and career[edit]
McHarg was born and raised in Everett, Washington. After serving a brief stint in the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in the US Marine Corps, he went on to study at the Lee Strasberg Actors Workshop in Seattle. He then moved to Los Angeles to study acting as a work observer at The Actor's Studio under Mark Rydell and Martin Landau and later went on to work on stage in several dozen live theater productions.[3]
McHarg got his BFA in film from the Art Center College of Design, where he won the Gold Addy and Silver Telly Awards and was a shortlisted winner for the Cannes Young Director Award.[4] His short films, “Kicking Sand in Your Face”, “the end”, and "Deer Season"[5] screened on the international film festival circuit and garnered several awards.[6][7] He was also named in the second edition of The Top 100 Independent Filmmakers in the World. McHarg was also the creator and former host of the Triumph & Disaster podcast, which was focused on men's culture and creativity. [8][9] He has included guests such as directors Mark Pellington (Arlington Road), Tony Kaye (American History X), and actors such as Doug Jones (The Shape of Water).[10] Plans for his second podcast (All Fair Game with Cam McHarg) are being made for an estimated release date in 2024.[11]
McHarg plays Dave Greenfield in Kirby McClure's feature film debut Spaghetti Junction[12][13] which premiered at the Austin Film Festival,[14] the Manchester Film Festival,[15] and the San Diego Film Festival.[16] and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.[17]
McHarg's most recent project is ZERO,[18] a feature film shot in Dakar, Senegal. ZERO is Jean-Luc Herbulot's (Saloum) first English language film with an expected release in early 2024.
