Mimar

Mimar (Arabic: معمار, romanizedmiʕmār, lit.'one who constructs') is an Arabic word for an architect. It was frequently used as an honorific title in the Ottoman Empire and Iran, as well as in other localities of the Turco-Persian tradition.

Etymology[edit]

The word originates in Arabic, from a mif'al conjugation of the root word ˁamara (Arabic: عَمَرَ, lit.'[he] enlivened'). It was first attested to in Ottoman Turkish in 1330.[1]
