Description[edit]

The wingspan is 8–12 mm and they are on the wing nearly all year round. Very similar to Phalonidia manniana Fischer von Röslerstamm, 1839. It differs as follows: forewings with markings broader, more indistinct and suffused, median fascia marked with dark fuscous on posterior edge in middle.[6]

The larvae feed in the stems of water-plantains (Alisma species), gentians (Gentiana species), eyebrights (Euphrasia species) and louseworts (Pedicularis species).
